On the road..

On the road..

On my way back from an awesome weekend getaway, sitting at the back seat of the car, I realised how much I loved travelling. I do miss home and being with my close knit circle of friends but nothing can measure to the thrill of travelling… Moving away from home at an early age gave me the opportunity to explore the world around me. I would never give up on the opportunity of visiting a new place for anything else in this world. I hope to write more about all the trips till date… πŸ™‚

I hope I’ll get to travel more this December and I hope you find a place that you would like to explore during this holiday season.. Share your travel experiences with me. I’d love to read about them and may be follow your steps.. πŸ˜€

3 December, 2011

All of us whether professionals, top executives, students or stay at home parents are living a monotonous mechanical life. We’re all in search of something everyday – success, happiness, love, truth, friends, peace and their derivatives. But if we take some time, pause, and think about it; All of these goals are what Life is. These things come and go, they have life span. Trying to sustain or hold on to any of these is what spurs our mechanical lives.

Most of the people around me say they need a break or need a vacation, but I really wonder how many of us really take a BREAK. Even our vacations are action packed. Things to do, things to see, what to eat and who to visit??? How many of us really make some time for solitude. We are so used to having people around us and the noise around us is what keeps us going these days.

I think all of us need some ‘ALONE’ time where we can analyze our thoughts and motives, deal with our anxieties, develop a passion for something new and renew our faith in ourselves. This is one of the importantΒ  lessons I learnt from the past few events that occurred in my life. It brought me closer to myself. I realized that no one else can lift my spirit higher than I can. The world around will be happy if I can keep myself happy and that does require occasional alienation from the active life.

This December, I would like to allot myself some time with ME and think about how I would like to see the new year take shape. I’d like to pamper myself, do something to make a complete stranger smile and just have fun for ME.

Take some time off this December for yourself and do the things you always wanted to do and retrospect on how you would like for the new year to be.

Please do share the moments that make this month special for you with me. πŸ˜€

2 December, 2011

I had pledged to write about a special moment everyday but I could not keep up to that.

I still did not miss out on capturing those moments.. I just could not find the time to pen it down and share it with you. So, here it goes.

Still Life

The blues

On 2 December 2011, my day started out the same as every other weekday – Wake up early, walk around like a zombie in a half asleep state trying to get ready for a busy day and then travel to my workplace with those familar but unknown people. I got to work and was reminded by the alerts on my PC about the busy day planned ahead. And then, what caught my attention was that just a day into December and everyone around me was already discussing about their plans for an awesome vacation with family, friends and loved ones. That’s when it hit me that living abroad not only opened a door for a lot of opportunites but also had a downside to it.

I missed being home.

I realised that every December I ran back home to my family, friends and the comfort of it all. But this time, I have the opportunity to experience the season of festivity outside of my closed circle. I had a rush of mixed emotions and thoughts, in a way it was exciting that I was going to stay in Singapore for the first time during Christmas in almost four years but more than that I was worried how my favourite month would turn out to be. After a roller coaster ride through the year, I wanted December to be special but a day into the month and I was already upset.

But life can really take an unexpected turn any time, all we need is hope for the best to come our way and have some patience. My friends suddenly invited me to join them to Malacca in Malaysia for the weekend. By the end of that gloomy day, I’d already had a peek at how great this time in Singapore was going to be.

On the road

Martin Luther King, Jr. said “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

It is easier said than done but it really helps to look at sad moments as, ‘it cannot get worse than this, it just HAS TO get better’. Hope and faith are the catalyst for a better tomorrow.

I hope you have the best December with your family and friends. And if you are away from home like me, I hope this December will be extra special for you.Β  And you can always share it with me.. πŸ™‚ :p

1 Dec 2011

Beginning of December..

What a pleasant morning!

Have you ever smiled as soon as you wake up because the morning just feels awesome? Then, you know how I felt this morning. πŸ™‚

My friend was telling me about an incident she experienced for the first time and was completely taken aback by it. A man suddenly collapsed in the bus yesterday; The bus driver stopped the bus immediately and was trying to help the guy; there was another man who was trying to call the ambulance. What surprised my friend was that people just don’t have presence of mind in situations like this.. they should have rushed the man to the hospital instead of waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Who knows if the man had just had a heart attack? My friend doesn’t know what happened to the man later. Hopefully, everything went well for him. But every incident like this just makes me think more about the value of human life in today’s world. It is in situations like this, I thank God for blessing me with a wonderful life. Why is it that the importance of our life hits us only when we see someone else struggle? Why can’t we just be happy for who we are and what we have? People are just complicated. But..

Life is just as simple as you want it to be…

Anyway, after falling asleep with a heavy heart, I genuinely woke up with a light heart and a smile, feeling blessed for another beautiful day in my life. I felt it would be nice to share that feeling with you! πŸ˜€

Stream of Life” by Rabindranath Tagore

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Have an awesome month ahead… Hugs!

As the countdown to my favourite month begins today, I thought it would finally be a good time to start with my blog. This has been on my to-do list for a very long time now. Since I’ve finally gotten myself to start with the blog, I really hope to keep this going.

I hope to make this blog a rhapsody encapsulating a reflection of me and my life so far.

Thank you for taking time to visit my page.. See you soon! πŸ˜€

Life is full of surprises and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. If you try to plan every step, you may miss those wonderful twists and turns.
